Drive Shaft Boots are rubber bellows that enclose the CV (Constant Velocity) joint at both the inner and outer ends of the drive shaft. They retain the grease that lubricates the joint and seal out dirt, water, and road contaminants.
A torn or cracked boot allows grease to escape and lets debris enter the joint. Left unchecked, the CV joint wears rapidly and eventually fails — leading to vibration under acceleration and, ultimately, loss of drive.

Steering Gear Boots (also called rack-and-pinion boots or tie-rod boots) are accordion-style rubber covers that protect the exposed ends of the steering rack. They seal the rack housing against dust, moisture, and road debris while accommodating the full left–right travel of the rack.
Deteriorated steering boots cause premature wear of the rack and tie-rod ends, leading to play in the steering and uneven tyre wear.
