The stabilizer link assy (sway bar link) connects the ends of the stabilizer bar to the suspension — strut, control arm, or axle depending on the design. Ball-socket joints or rubber bushings at each end let the link follow suspension travel while still transmitting the bar's anti-roll force. The stabilizer shaft rubber (stabilizer bar bushing) clamps the bar to the chassis and holds it in position as it twists. Together they keep the body flat in corners and the steering response predictable.
These are among the hardest-worked rubber parts on the car: every bump works the link joints, and every corner twists the bar in its bushings. Worn links rattle or knock over small bumps and speed humps; perished shaft rubbers creak at low speed and let the bar shift sideways, producing increased body roll and vague turn-in. Because links are fitted in pairs, both sides are normally replaced together.
