Spring Bumper

Spring Bumper

The spring bumper (bump stop) is a progressive rubber cushion fitted on the shock absorber rod or spring seat, usually under the dust cover boot. When the suspension nears full compression — a deep pothole, a loaded bed, towing — the bumper takes over progressively and prevents hard metal-to-metal contact between the axle and the chassis. It protects the shock absorber from bottoming damage, shields the chassis and body mounts from impact, and keeps the car stable through the harshest part of the suspension stroke.

On pickups that regularly carry load, the spring bumper is effectively a wear part: the rubber crumbles, splits, or falls off entirely, and the first sign is often a sharp metallic bang when the suspension bottoms. Driving on without one transfers every full-compression impact straight into the shock absorber and spring seat — a common cause of early shock absorber leaks and broken spring perches.

Key features of Perfect Rubber Parts spring bumpers:

  • Progressive geometry that stiffens gradually toward full compression instead of striking hard
  • Rubber compounds selected for repeated impact, heat, and ozone exposure in tropical conditions
  • Made to OE shape and seat dimensions so the bumper locates securely on the rod or perch
  • Applications for Toyota, Isuzu, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Honda, Suzuki, and Hino — with strong coverage for one-ton pickups
